Project Location: Town of Williston in Chittenden County along VT Route 2A with improvements from the intersection of Bittersweet Circle to the bridge over the Winooski River. 

Project Description: VT Route 2A will be widened from approximately River Cove Road to Eastview Circle to accomodate a two-way left turn lane throughout the corridor and a designated left turn lane at James Brown Drive and at River Cove Road. A new traffic signal and pedestrian crossings will replace the temporary signal that is currently at the intersection of James Brown Drive. The project also includes installation of new curbing, drainage, sidewalk, pedestrian improvements, and stormwater mitigation, along with repaving the project area and installing new pavement markings and signage.

Remaining Construction & Traffic Impacts: The majority of this project has been completed throughout the 2018 and 2019 construction seasons, and you can expect to see minor roadway work during the early summer in 2020. The roadway surface will be repaved in 2020 and all final signs and pavement markings will be installed. Other work will include finalizing the new pedestrian facilities and other touch ups through the project area. Traffic will continue to be maintained with free-flowing two-way traffic during day time construction hours. Construction activities that require one-way alternating traffic will be completed at nighttime between the hours of 7PM and 6AM so as to cause minimal disruption to commuting traffic.

Public Outreach: We will continue keeping everyone informed of construction updates and traffic impacts as they unfold. Weekly construction updates will be sent out via email once construction resumes in the spring.
